Not a film, but an extract from the excellent series Faites entrer l'accusé. The narration of Christophe Hondelatte is Level 1, but the voice of the policeman and the doctor can be rather harder to follow. |

The Happening is a dubbed American catastrophe movie. The movie is fine, although the dubbing is pretty stiff. That makes it all the easier for us, though ! |

Des fleurs pour Algernon. Not dubbed but a French version of the famous story by Daniel Keyes. The retarded young man who takes an experimental treatment (along with a laboratory mouse, Algernon), and rises to genius level. Then the mouse regresses and dies, and we watch Charlie Brown's decline. When someone asked Keyes how he'd managed to produce this wonderful sci-fi story he said 'I don't know, but if I ever find out I'll do it again'. In the French version they introduced a piano teacher and some love interest. Ah well .... |

Jardinage à l'anglaise is a pleasant little British film about a young criminal who finds himself in an open prison, takes up gardening along with fis fellow prisoners, and ends up exhibiting at the Royal Horticultural Show. Like so many Anglo-American films dubbed into French it gives the learner's ear an easier time than 'real' French films. |

We have had Sacha Guitry before in Les perles de la couronne. It's a mannered, characteristic of it's time as was the voice of Noel Coward, for instance. This is Le roman d'un tricheur. I found it difficult to transcribe. The voice is clear, but the background music is distracting, and the language is extremely literary. |

Brice de Nice is a cult film, a film for adolescents, a French film, and a very funny film, thanks to Jean Dujardin.
