La Grande Librairie from Le Théâtre du Rond-Point

Home

The last transmission of the France 5 bookshow La grande librarie was a special, from the Théâtre du Rond-Point in Paris, with actors reading passages from their favourite books. It was a programme from which I could quote every item.

And on this page I may well do so. The first extract below has already been quoted in the People section, and I include it here for completeness.

The complete programme has been archived

François Morel et Guillaume Gallienne doing a parody af the affected conversation of two Parisian theatregoers. Is François Morel deliberately imitating Fabrice Luchini ? or is there a whole class of people in Paris who speak like that ?

Théâtre sans animaux - Neuf pièces
                       facétieuses

is the title of a book by Jean-Michel Ribes. Again, the target is the classic theatre, with the reaction of a long-suffering husband to the alexandrines of Racine. This is a long extract - 9 minutes. But what a wonderful party piece !
