British series are popular on French television. Partly because they are often of good quality, but also because the French who do comic sketches and films wonderfully, don't seem to be able to make comedy series. This failure is a recurrent theme in the television magazines.

Here is the great-grandaddy of all cult series Chapea melon et bottes de cuir, or The Avengers as we knew it. This one is in colour and features the veryt pretty Tara KIng. The sound quality of the period was extremely good, but it is interesting that the dubbing company have chosen to give it the slightly indistinct sound of films of an earlier epoch. But that makes it all the better as a listening exercise.
